SWINE FLU – UPDATED July 30, 2009

The latest update on Swine Flu (H1N1) and travel insurance. On June 11, 2009 the World Health Organization (WHO) upgraded their alert level for the H1N1 virus to Phase 6. This was significant because raising the alert level to Phase 6 indicated that they now consider the H1N1 virus (Swine Flu) to be a “pandemic”. This can directly affect some travel insurance polices as some of them have policy exclusions for losses caused by a “pandemic” or “epidemic”. Here is a list of those companies:
